I hope this finds you well and in excellent spirits conducive to problem solving! I hope you are also in reach of your reading glasses; as in an effort to include all the information you will need I have written what is--I am almost certain--a report of above average length. However, I have separated the report into different sections to ensure ease of reading. This report is similar to one posted by another user almost a month ago (link: http://bit.ly/u8qP4e), but I am not convinced it is the same issue. Regardless, the previous report fails to adequately communicate the severity of the issue and provides almost no information that might assist in solving the problem (no offense to author intended).

:::::::::: INTRODUCTION ::::::::::

Before I say anything else, I want to thank you for making an absolutely amazing product; JuiceDefender is without a doubt the best $5 I have spent on my phone. Under heavy use, my battery lasts 2-3x longer, and uses almost no juice if it's not in use (the way it should be). Succinctly, I love your app; I was even asked on another forum if I worked for Latedroid because how often I praise its virtues. I wanted to mention this to make clear my motivation in writing this report. It's not because I am angry with any of you or because I think your product is the worst invention since reality television shows. On the contrary, I consider JD to be one of the most crucial applications on my phone, and I really--REALLY--want it working again, as do many others. It is my hope that in doing this, I will help this be accomplished swiftly.

:::::::::: THE PROBLEM ::::::::::

In a nutshell, Juice Defender is "disabling" 3G/4G (hereafter referred to collectively as "data"), and restarting the phone appears to be the only means of restoring the data connection. Considering that JD worked almost flawlessly on my Revolution until it was upgraded from Froyo to GingerBread, I am inclined to think the problem may be a compatibility issue in GB.

<<< Isolating the Issue >>>
How do I know it's JuiceDefender causing the problem? I and many other people (most more knowledgeable than me) performed a fair amount of troubleshooting to ensure we were isolating the problem correctly and ruling out any extraneous variables. We've performed the standard tech procedures of manually enabling/disabling data, airplane mode, JD, etc. (countless times) and tried many other things in our desperation, all to no avail. Even disregarding all that, the problem ceases to exist when JD is disabled or uninstalled, so we're pretty certain we're not crazy. =]

<<< Occurrence >>>
Everything appears to function normally when the phone is first turned on/rebooted, but once the screen is turned off (which, in my case, disables both data and Wi-Fi), everything goes to hell. I could change the settings to not disable internet connections when I turn the screen off, but the problem would still occur the first time JD is triggered to turn off the data network. That is why there has been so much variance vis-à-vis when the problem occurs--we all have different triggers/controls/etc that would affect when data was being turned off for the first time. Put simply:

0) 4G/3G (data) works only as long as it hasn't been turned off by JuiceDefender. After JD disables data for the first time, it is completely disabled (though Wi-Fi still works) and can only be restored by restarting the phone.

<<< Troubleshooting Information >>>
To make matters worse, JuiceyDeucey not only blocks me from the interwebs, it taunts me! Don't believe me? Read on! I've included the bulk of the remaining information in these bullet points to avoid this becoming a novella.

1) 4G icon in notification bar is replaced with 3G (I know with certainty that I am in a 4G area).
----1a) 4G is still listed under [Settings > About Phone > Status > Network Type & Strength] (-103dBm) along with 1x (-96dBm).
2) The JD 2x1 widget frequently varies in how it reports the status of the data network, and it is often inconsistent with the actual system settings, the JD info panel in the pulldown menu, or both.
----2a) Using the JD Data Toggle widget to force disable data does not actually disable anything (nor does it remove the 3G icon from the notification bar).
----2b) Using the JD Data Toggle widget to force enable data does not cause data to resume functioning normally.
3) Disabling data within the phone's Mobile Network Settings does not remove the 3G icon from the notification bar (nor does reenabling it restore connectivity).
----3a) Same as #3. Only a system restart resumes data connectivity.
----3b) Completely disabling JuiceDefender also does not resolve the issue, unless it is disabled before it has a chance to turn off data (as mentioned in #0).
----3c) Enabling the [Mobile Data AutoFix] within JuiceDefender initially (seemingly) does nothing, but then disables data completely (but there's no 3G icon taunting me).
4) Data (including 4G) functions normally if JuiceDefender is disabled or uninstalled.
----4a) Data (including 4G) functions normally alongside JuiceDefender ONLY when all JD settings pertaining to control of the data network are disabled (auto sync not included).
----4b) The issue does not occur if the [Network Mode] within the phone's settings is changed to [CDMA Only]. With 4G disabled, everything appears to function normally, so it appears the problem lies within JD's attempts to switch to/from 4G.
5) This problem occurs both with and without AOSP Helper installed. Problem persists after formatting both the internal and external sdcard, performing a factory reset, and then installing JuiceDefender on a perfectly clean system.

<<< JuiceDefender Logs >>>
I replicated the issue and created several logs using the feature within the Beta version of JuiceDefender. I am sending several logs because I don't know exactly how the logging feature works, and I did not want to risk a crucial instant being absent. Unfortunately, this means there's likely a good bit of redundancy within the logs, and I apologize to whomever is responsible for sorting through them. Please note that I stated above that AOSP Helper was successfully installed, which it was, but these logs were made on a recently reset phone and I have not reinstalled the AOSP Helper at this point.

I will include a brief explanation of the circumstances surrounding the time when the log was captured. There are a total of six (6) logs, which I will number in order of their occurrence. For your convenience, I have sent all six in a single E-Mail to [logs@latedroid.com] with the label "[LOG] [REVOLUTION] [DATA ISSUE]" including the attached .txt files and the content generated in the body of the email when a log is created. I hope you find this information helpful in determining the source of this problem.

:::::::::: CONCLUSION ::::::::::

I'd like to clarify that I am writing this report not strictly for myself, but on behalf of the dozens of LG Revolution owners within the XDA-Developers community. Many of us depend on JuiceDefender--including a large number who have purchased the Plus or Ultimate versions--to ensure our batteries will last an entire day (or two, or three) instead of 8 hours. Certainly you can understand our frustration when you make such an outstanding application, we purchase it and get hooked on it, and then suddenly take it away without warning! We even considered "Occupying" your front lawn, but we decided it was too cold outside. ;-)

But seriously, there really are a number of people with Revolutions who tried JD but have yet to purchase JD Plus/Ultimate because of the compatibility issues; if you can fix this, then I'll finally be vindicated for my vehement support. I will encourage all of these Revolution owners (both current and potential customers) to follow the progress of this report and provide any information/assistance needed for a swift resolution of this problem and a return of our phones to their former glory. Just let us know what you need--logs, configuration schemes, TPS Reports, banana pudding pie--anything that's not too illegal, and I or someone else will be sure to avail it to you.

I have gingerbread 2.3.4 and jd ultimate 3.9.4. I have a galaxy s2. It has happened to me twice until now, i cannot wake my phone and i have to keep the power button pressed until it reboots, i also had the message of the jd didnt shutdown correctly fingers crossed etc. I also have unkeylock installed for not having to unlock the screen everytime i wake up the phone, but reading these now i think the problem is jd because i have used 2 different "no screen lock" apps and with both i have had the not waking up problem. You can hear the volume button when you press it, but the screen wont turn back on unless you keep the power button pressed until it reboots. Help me please!

First, let me say many thanks for making my last phone's battery manageable for about 1.5 years. I recently upgraded to a VZ Motorola Razr and shortly after upgraded to JD Ultimate. Unfortunately JD is giving me issues with the new Razr.

More often than not, when I turn the screen on, the phone is very slow to reacquire a data connection. Sometimes this takes several minutes before it begins to work, which is quite inconvenient at times, and always annoying. Putting the phone into airplane mode and back out again seems to resolve the problem sometimes, but not always. A restart seems to always work.

When the phone cannot get a data connection, disabling JD does nothing to help it. However, when I disable JD, the phone does not seem to lose the data connection in the first place. When I turn the screen on and begin to use it, the connection is there whenever I have tried.

Please take a look into this and see if you can sort it out. JD is too great of a tool not to use. Plus I just spent $5 on it! I am more than willing to gather whatever data/logs/etc you may need to assist in fixing this. Just let me know what you need!

A feature that i would like to have added to juice defender is the ability to determine what kind of connectivity my phone has when it is charging. Right now all I can do is determine which type of charge (USB,AC) will enable connectivity. What I also would like to be able to do is to tell the program what kind of connectivity to turn on (WIFI, Bluetooth, Mobile, etc). Here is my situation I would like my connectivity to automatically come on at home with wifi when I plug it in at night to downlaod updates, do online back ups, etc. I do not; however, want my connectly to come on at work when i plug it in and burn through my mobile data (I only have 200mb with overage charges). I want to be able to only enable connectivity when plugged in when I have access to wifi. If I don't have access to wifi I don't want the conncetivity to come on when plugged in.

From the JuiceDefender overview:

"The Toggle mobile data widget lets you quickly force-enable or force-disable mobile data with a *single tap*, if you need to override JuiceDefender’s control."

No anymore, it doesn't. Instead, you tap the toggle data widget and get a menu asking you if you wish to "force enable" or "force disable" JuiceDefender. That's two taps: tap once on the widget to launch the menu, tap twice to actually perform the enabling or disabling.

How does this make any sense? Is there anyone who really appreciates now having to make *two* taps to toggle mobile data on and off, compared to *one* tap?

I assume that most people want to quickly turn their data on for a short period of time to surf the web, sync their Dropbox, upload photos, etc. and then hand control back to JuiceDefender when they are done. Pretty handy to be able to do this in one tap, I'd reckon.

Yes, you can configure JuiceDefender to quick enable and quick disable from the notification bar. The problem, though, is that this requires a swipe AND a tap, which is the same as two taps (worse, even), which is my main complaint in the first place.

Yes, you can use the App triggers. If I were cynical, I'd say that this widget redesign was a ploy to get Free users to upgrade to Plus or Ultimate just to get App triggers, but I'm not, so I won't :)

On the other hand, let's think about the other option, to "force disable" mobile data from the toggle widget.

Does anyone really go, "Hm, JuiceDefender has disabled my mobile data for the moment, but I want to make DOUBLY sure that it is disabled, so I'll MANUALLY disable it. And I'm in too much of a hurry to do so by actually opening JuiceDefender, or by using the JuiceDefender widget, or by bringing up the Quickbox from the notification bar, so I want to be able to do it from the toggle data widget."

If so, I vote that that person be committed for their own protection :P

The old toggle data widget made so much more sense; tap once to force enable, again to hand over to JuiceDefender, and if mobile data is enabled by JuiceDefender, tapping it brings up a menu asking if you are sure you want to manually disable data. Simple, intuitive, non-redundant.

Please bring it back.

Have to say JD is an awesome app and I was very pleased with the beta version. However, I was disappointed after encountering a few of the problems below:

1. I set my schedule to 15m, with 30s duration. Initially it works fine, but afterwards it doesn't seem to enable connectivity anymore. The logs say "schedule start/ stop" instead of "schedule start/ data enabled/ schedule stop". This seems to be affecting the ability for me to receive texts from Whatsapp, which I rely upon heavily.

2. I have settings "enable on unlock" on but it did not enable my data at all. Initially I lived with the flaw on the schedule section, waking up my phone manually once in while to check for updates. It was weird but I think JD was blocking my data? Settings on my Andriod indicates that data is on but there's no connectivity at all. I tried to switch it on/ off thru settings but to no avail. I always had to disable JD and restart my phone.

3. Now, JD just disables my data the moment I on my phone. No data at all. I had no choice but to uninstall JD but it's a really awesome app to let go completely.

I'm on the earliest version of HTC Sensation with Andriod 2.3.3. I've re-installed JD countless times but the issues persists. Keeping data enabled is not an option because if that's the way, I wouldn't be downloading JD, would I? (:

When I'm calling to whoever or to some cellphone service and get in line, I usually take the phone off my ear and check the screen if the call is still on or what's the time or other things. Or put to speaker or whatever. When I'm doing this, screen goes on and connectivity is enabled. When I put the phone back to my ear the screen goes off and connectivity is disabled. This bugs me!

I would like to select in Juice Defender settings whether the connectivity is always enabled or always disabled when I get a phone call. This also allows phone calling related apps to work normally, like CallerInfo which gets the unknown caller ID information from Internet and is prevented by Juice Defender since there's no connection during phone calls.

I would love this feature! Possible?

First of all, thank you for such a great product. I am so very please with JuiceDefender Ultimate. I use K9 Mail on my HTC Desire. And sometimes K9 Mail will lock up causing the CPU to run at 100% until I kill the K9 app. If I don't notice it right away the 100% CPU usage will run down the battery within an hour or two. I was thinking that a nice enhancement to JuiceDefender Ultimate would be to include an extended high CPU usage audible alarm. For example, if the CPU usage was above 95% for a certain length of time, JuceDefender would sound an alarm. CPU percentage and time length values could be set by the user. I'm a new user of juicedefender and started directly with
the beta, I'm currently running 3.9.4 on the Lg Optimus 2x / CM7.2 .
It's been just 2 days.

What I want to achieve: I want to stay always connected, give wifi priority of course. When I'm connected to a Wifi network I want the network to switch to 2G since I won't need 3G networks to save battery power. When I'm out of a wifi network range switch to 2G network data if I'm not using the phone (basically if screen on) , if the screen is on then switch to 3G to take advantage of the fast speeds. If I don't touch the phone for 5 minutes aka locked then switch to 2G while keeping data on unless wifi is available again of course.
I pretty configured JD to do that but I noticed that some things don't work.

- when I walk long distances or drive the car from my house to another place with wifi coverage when I get to the new place or go back home the phone will stay connected to 2G data and will connect back to wifi only when I switch the screen back on and unlock the phone, just the second after
- it worked the first day but today the phone stayed on 2G all day even when I was using for 1h nowhere near "known" wifi coverage locations. It never switched to 3G while I was using. I didn't put the phone to "2g only" manually. The log doesn't show attempts to switch network type.
- I noticed in the logs that when I'm on 2g/3g data JD continuously tries to enable and disable wifi every 1 minute at first and then every 3 minutes?! Does it try to do that when I'm near locations where known wifi network are available? Problem is that this happened even while I was driving, away from locations where I used wifi so it doesn't really explain why it does that! Doesn't this drain the battery?

By the way what is difference between data and 3g in "keep enabled"?
