Installing Plus/Ultimate crashes the launcher/home
Read this if after installing Plus or Ultimate, you get a dialog saying "process com.android.launcher (or com.sonyericcson.homescreen) has stopped working" - either immediately or after a reboot.
Current status
v3.7.5beta should fix the issue for SE X10 (and variations), X8, and LG Optimus V.
Procedure:
- uninstall JD (or JD beta) and JD Plus/Ultimate
- reboot
- reinstall JD beta + JD Plus/Ultimate
- reboot
- hopefully there should be no FC :)
If it works, please report in the comments!
If the launcher still crashes:
- open JD, go to the About tab, scroll to the bottom, tap on ‘send log’, tap ‘ok’, pick your email app
- edit the subject by inserting “LAUNCHER” at the end
- send the mail
Temporary workaround
Quite simply, use a different launcher, like LauncherPro or ADW – they’re on the Market
Why does this happen?
The cause is a rather poor implementation of their “differentiating” customized launchers by the manufacturers. JuiceDefender uses one particular API call, which is admittedly rarely used, but part of the standard API nonetheless. It seems that Google forgot to insert that specific case into their Android compatibility test suite…
Thanks for your patience!

Everything works well except for the fact that after I dial a phone number the screen blacks out which means I can't press any numbers when checking land line VM from my Evo. I can't type in account numbers etc. This is a big problem!

Jeez! I'm going to uninstall after reading all the posts. I'd rather have a battery that runs out fast than have this app cause my phone to malfunction. Thanks for all the warnings!

This app is complicated unless u are gadget head. I have noticed no improvement of my battery juice. I just installed app two days ago so I will keep it awhile to see if it changes.

Some amendments to my recent post:
The exakt version I used was JDU 3.9.0.

Hi,
I have installed JD Ultimate (newest version, from 31.3.2012, version 3.9.x) on my
Samsung Galaxy R ('Z' in some countries) i9103 yesterday. At first, it worked well, I had it running overnight, no problem.
But since a few hours, it keeps crashing the Launcher (I am using the GO Launcher EX, but I
guess that's not the problem).
After uninstalling JD, the phone works well again. If there is a workaround or fix for the Samsung Galaxy i9103, that would be great.
Thank you,
Regards,

You guys are almost no help to some of us with the Amazon JDU version. Scanning this site I know I'm not the only one very discouraged with your two different versions of JD apps. It appears Amazon is abandonware, or at least riddledwithproblemsware, and it's users are SOL. Anybody even mentions the big "A" in a thread and you guys turn the other cheek and wait for those users to go away. Fine. I'm changing my ratings and sharing this experience with my fellow Android users, then I too will disappear.

This happens when I try to add theJD Ultimate to my homescreen. Ihavean HTC Thunderbolt and this only happened after Verizon push through therecent Gingerbread update. I tried all suggested fixes and/or work arounds and nothing works. I finally added a JD widget to my homescreen as a temporary solution. Pleasesix this issuein the nextupdateor pester HTC to patch their buggy Gingerbread release for the Thunderbolt.

Mark, the FC happens any time I try to add the JD app to my home screen, with any version or combination of JD and Ultimate. I have followed the instructions that supposedly fix the issue to no avail. I see the new Beta is out. If I replace my 3.7.6 with 3.8.2B, will I run into the advertising glitch again? I get prompted to purchase Plus and Ulti if I update to 3.8.0, and would rather not continue un/installing JD.
If my issue stems from my purchase from Amazon, I would suggest a warning on their site. Furthermore, if the Google version of JDU is completely different from Amazon, I'd suggest a warning on the Market stating that Goog's version is superior to Amazon's, any not to mix versions of Plus or Ultimate between markets.

@Wayne: does the FC happen only once or all the time? Does it still happen after a reboot?

Thanks Mark. The FC is HTC Sense (process com.HTC.launcher).
I started with JD (v 3.7.6) from amazon and added Ultimate (v 3.7.6) through amazon as well. The FC was present then. I noticed Google recognised JD free and suggested an update. I figured it couldn't be any worse so I updated to 3.8. Same FC issue. Google also recognizes Ultimate, suggests an update, which turns out to be a paid upgrade. I did not update ultimate.
I have no other apps that would conflict with JD duties, although I do have JPlotter installed.

@Anon: so you're getting the FC on the launcher process after installing Ultimate? What's the exact name of the process?
It seems weird as nobody mentioned the Incredible 2 about this issue so far... -

Your procedure does not fix the FC issue on my stock DInc2. There is also no "send log" on my About tab. Running Ultimate 3.8 currently, I have not used JD BETA yet.
I'd prefer the stock launcher and non-beta JD to work, rather than install another app(s) to try to fix the issue.

It crashes my droid bionic. I have to remove the battery. That is the only way I can get it to reboot.
