No data with JD and Samsung Droid Charge

I've noticed that sometimes that I cannot connect to mobile data when waking my phone, but I know it's available because my wife and I have identical phones (but hers isn't running JD). I've followed admin instructions from a similar post in the forums, uninstalled then re-installed beta version but the problem persists. Not as prevalent when connected to WIFI, more so with 4g or 3g.

Sometimes cycling airplane mode works when JD is running, but usually it doesn't. The only way I can reconnect to data is to disable JD, then cycle airplane mode, or in some cases a full reboot is required.

I've submitted the log to support but haven't heard back yet. Anyone have any suggestions? Don't want to get the paid version until I know the app will work with the Samsung Charge. Since it sounds like this problem might be a common occurence with my new phone, I won't keep my hopes up. Great app if we can find a workaround (other than disabling JD then reboot) !

Ok, it’s been abundantly confirmed that the problem is due to a (terrible) bug in the Charge stock Froyo firmware.

So the official “solution” is to wait for the Gingerbread OTA update (should be any day now), or, if you’re in a hurry, flash (one of the) the leaked Gingerbread firmware(s) (some pointers in the comments – thanks folks!)

In the meantime if you wish to retain at least some of the battery benefits of JD you should switch to the Advanced profile (if you haven’t already) and enable “mobile data” under Controls/Keep enabled (but remember to disable it once you get Gingerbread!)

We cannot give you an ETA, but if you feel JD is unusable ask for a refund.

At this point it is clear that there are something wrong with this specific device… it is very difficult to make things work on all devices out there, mainly when manufacturers “go too far” on customizations from the original Android OS.

But dev is already working on this issue and thanks for your patience.

Would you mind joining us @ www.latedroid.com/beta and trying the latest beta?

Download it and, please, follow these steps:

1) Uninstall both Juicedefender and UltimateJuice/Plus (if you purchased any of them);
2) Reboot your device;
3) Install JuiceDefender beta;
4) Done that, install UltimateJuice/Plus (if you purchased any of them);
5) DO NOT restore any backuped settings;
6) Reboot again your device,
7) Test and report!
