No data with JD and Samsung Droid Charge
I've noticed that sometimes that I cannot connect to mobile data when waking my phone, but I know it's available because my wife and I have identical phones (but hers isn't running JD). I've followed admin instructions from a similar post in the forums, uninstalled then re-installed beta version but the problem persists. Not as prevalent when connected to WIFI, more so with 4g or 3g.
Sometimes cycling airplane mode works when JD is running, but usually it doesn't. The only way I can reconnect to data is to disable JD, then cycle airplane mode, or in some cases a full reboot is required.
I've submitted the log to support but haven't heard back yet. Anyone have any suggestions? Don't want to get the paid version until I know the app will work with the Samsung Charge. Since it sounds like this problem might be a common occurence with my new phone, I won't keep my hopes up. Great app if we can find a workaround (other than disabling JD then reboot) !
Ok, it’s been abundantly confirmed that the problem is due to a (terrible) bug in the Charge stock Froyo firmware.
So the official “solution” is to wait for the Gingerbread OTA update (should be any day now), or, if you’re in a hurry, flash (one of the) the leaked Gingerbread firmware(s) (some pointers in the comments – thanks folks!)
In the meantime if you wish to retain at least some of the battery benefits of JD you should switch to the Advanced profile (if you haven’t already) and enable “mobile data” under Controls/Keep enabled (but remember to disable it once you get Gingerbread!)

I have other apps that allows me to turn back on my data connection. Why JD wouldn't be able to do the same?

Found Juice Defender Plus (I'm not rooted), after upgrading to GB via Verizon update and suddenly having 4 hours max of battery life. My problems with connecting to data however, continued until I got VZ to give me a new Sim card - AND - until I read the settings instructions for JD and disabled the setting for wifi preferred. Now I turn the phone on and I have 4G, and when I'm home, within approx 1 minute, the4 G setting has closed and wifi has taken over.

If specific things are not clear feel free to ask :)
The app was called betterbatterystats

I am now working in the Advanced settings and there are so many things to keep track of I easily get confused about the different things I try. Plus some of the settings and explanations don't seem really clear to me so I hear what you are saying. I am not really thinking that is a problem with JD, but rather with me not being very intuitive about some of this.
GB on my phone seems to have settled down on battery use over the weekend but I have been pretty much 100% on WiFi. I will see what happens this tomorrow and Tuesday when I will pretty much be out of WiFi and on mobile data.

@WillT, I know I'd be interested in what you find are the best settings for JD on the Charge. JD handling the BT is great, and it seems to be handling when to switch off of Data to Wi-Fi at home (although the inline help for what "training" and such means could be improved, as I found I had 2 copies of my Home Wi-Fi listed (had to switch routers), with no way to tell which was most recent (Hint: indicator next to currently used Wi-Fi?). Still not sure if I need Wifi always on, so having your settings would make a good checkpoint.
But I have to say that with GB in, JD is trying its best to save power. Pity GB seems to be eating more of it now.

Breece you are correct. I also understand people's frustration, but I proved to myself that JD has nothing to do with causing the data connection problems. I had the problem with Froyo and it was there even without JD installed. I also tried Green Power and that app was the same as JD with this phone and Froyo. I think the reason people think these battery saving apps are to blame is by their very nature they are turning off and on things on the phone to save battery. When the Charge with Froyo had something turned off by a battery app like JD it usually would then fail to reconnect. I could reproduce this easily even without a battery saving app installed. It was a problem with the Froyo firmware and the Charge.
Now that I have GB installed and JD installed and have thoroughly gone through the JD settings things seem to be working. I do not have the data connection problems any more. I do wish I had better battery life though and am still trying to pin that issue down.
I can't find anything on an app called "Better Battery" in the Android Market.
CPU Spy looks interesting. I will install that and see if it tells me anything.

@Will
have you checked with apps like "Better Battery" or "CPU spy" if your phone is actually "sleeping" etc?

@Kent
As much as I understand your anger I have to comment on your false accusations...
If you uninstall JD and your problems are not gone (even after a reboot) the problem is NOT with JD... -

There are a lot of people with the data issues at the Verizon forum. I did a hard reset of my phone before installing the update and that seems to have been key to cleaning out the data dropping issues.
But there are also LOTS of posts there stating that this update to GB has killed battery life. IT is strange because all of the people who were running the leaked versions of the update on rt'ed phones before the official release, reported better battery life. It may have to do with some specific thing Verizon added to Samsung's release. Or it may be a result of the 50 or so bloatware programs Verizon puts on the phone. Nobody seems to know yet but the only solution is looking like voiding any warranty and then installing an unofficial version of GB.

Uninstalled this stupid app and mobile data still doesn't work... NEVER DOWNLOAD THIS APP. I wish I was joking, but I'm not. I have the Gingerbread firmware, too. My mobile data connection works for 10-15 seconds after resetting my phone or toggling airplane mode on and off, but then disappears entirely. This was not happening until I installed JD, and it's still happening after uninstall. Seriously, NEVER get this app.

So its not just me. Even with JD running advanced and long periods with the screen dark, my battery barely lasts at most 6 hours now. I'd hate to think what it is without JD, although I've noticed JD will show both Wi-Fi and Data on when I'm at home, when it should know its on my home wi-fi.

So the answer seems to be that JD works with this update. I am having big battery issues since the update but JD is on and working and no data connection drops.
Strange thing is that since I updated to GB, the Charge battery use has gone through the roof! Even with JD in place and working in balanced mode, the battery is draining in half the time as before the update without JD. Very odd. Something must be wrong, but I have not figured out what yet.

So today I went in and out of WiFi and the Charge with GB transitioned back and forth seamlessly. I have not had a single drop of the network under that or any other condition. I will now reinstall my JD Plus, guess it is version 3.8 now, and see what happens tomorrow.

I just hard reset my Charge and installed the GB OTA release. Seems really good so far. I will be testing the No Data error tomorrow. It definitely was a problem with the Froyo firmware, not JD as I could make it happen easily even without JD installed. If that issue is gone, I will reinstall JD and test and report back here. Let's hope GB on this phone has eliminated the problem!

I just got the OTA last night. Gingerbread, firmware 2.3.6, Build SCH-I510.EP4
And the Beta 3.8.3 seems to be working. I haven't had to reboot to go from Home Wi-Fi to Data or back , which is great (would have had to reboot 6 times today already). What would be really helpful, and may already be around here somewhere, are suggested settings for various phones.

Am gratified to learn that I'm not alone in experiencing that JuiceDefender wouldn't "get out of the way" of my wireless connection when I powered on my Droid Charge (running Android Froyo 2.2 on VZW). Looking forward to the fix that comes with Gingerbread, but if history is any guide VZW will release that upgrade sometime in 2015.

Verizon is my carrier. I just read the upgrade should be pushed out on/about 29 November 2011. I am running a leaked version ... JD is working great.
